Wednesday, September 13, 2017 — 8:30pm

Social Factory Cinema & Anagram Books present:

United Red Army (実録・連合赤軍 あさま山荘への道程) is a 2007 film written, directed and produced by Kōji Wakamatsu, 190 minutes. It stars Akie Namiki as Hiroko Nagata and Go Jibiki as Tsuneo Mori, the leaders of Japan's leftist paramilitary group, the United Red Army. Akie Namiki was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress at the 2008 Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

Based on real events the film's story unfolds in three acts, beginning with the historical background of Japan's student movement of the 1960s and 70s using archive footage and narration. The second act follows the group to their mountain training camps in the Japanese Alps. It follows the group's Maoist style self critism sessions that led to the deaths of 12 members. The third act takes the form of chase and showdown worthy of action movies.

Social Factory Cinema & Anagram Books present a series of films exploring the themes of labour, unemployment, alienation and escape.
The screenings take place at Anagram Books in our Berlin space every second week, 8:30pm!
