The Thrill of it All
This publication gives an overview of the paintings of Belgian artist, Karin Hanssen (b. Antwerp, 1960). It deals with the period from 1994 up to and including 2009. 'The Thrill of it All' is the title of the screwball comedy (with Doris Day in the lead - filmed in 1963), which served as the inspiration for Karin Hanssen's work. After watching this film in 1994, Hanssen decided to focus her work on the theme of social determinism and to use flashback as a device.
