Normal Love explores the consequences of power and domination as they manifest themselves in everyday situations at the work place, in repeated allocations of hierarchal positions and in the distribution of tasks.
The book highlights those positions, conventions or institutions that can provide an individual with the necessary power and influence to successfully make such allocations, to speak such allocations, and to make them heard.
What positions power, what conventions or institutions enable the addressing of an individual as a "woman”, a “heterosexual woman”, a "citizen", and what are the social consequences of such denominations?
