"Torpor (Lat. torpeur) is a dream-like, physically inactive state. By lowering their body temperature and metabolic rate, animals use torpor to conserve energy. It is possible that I too, sometimes find myself in torpor, the floating, dream-like waking-sleeping state."
Taken in China in 2019-2021, his adopted home, Torsten Schumann looks at his new environment with a playful eye. As with his previous, now Highly collectable photography monograph "More Cars, Clothes and Cabbages" published by Peperoni Press in 2016, his photographs are full of humour, pointing at the absurdity in everyday situations.
