Black Maria (Phenomena overwhelming consciousness) is a 48-page artist book of drawings and photographs. The Black Maria, or the Kinetographic Theater, was Thomas Edison's movie production studio in West Orange, New Jersey. It was a dark studio room with a retractable roof built for the purpose of making film strips for the Kinetoscope, in 1893.
